does anyone know of a place that is good to go find turquoise yourself?
Turquoise (otherwise known as Callaite) was originally brought to Europe from Turkey (hence its name).
Its composition is 9.8% CuO, 37.6% AlO3,34.9% P2O5 and 17.72% H2O.
It is rare but is found in Germany, Poland, Russia, Iran, Egypt, USA and China.
As the Apache Indians used it widely ,I would imagine it is found in New Mexico somewhere.
